The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver program is designed for you to acquire more knowledge, fine-tune your diving skills, explore new environments, participate in new activities and discover new ways to enjoy diving while becoming more confident, relaxed and self-reliant underwater.
This fun, flexible program consists of knowledge development and 5 Adventure Dives. Deep Diving, expanding your certification depth limit to 100 feet/30 meters, and Underwater Navigation Adventure dives are required. You can then select three more elective adventure dives. Our most popular include:
Peak Performance Buoyancy – Look and feel like a pro with perfect buoyancy and trim!
Night Diver – See the String of Pearls! (Requires a minimum of 4 divers or more)
Underwater Photography – We have one GoPro available for rent if needed.
Drift Diver – Learn how to assess and safely dive in drift conditions and practice deploying a surface marker buoy.
Fish Identification – Learn how to classify and identify marine life regardless of where in the world you are diving!
The Nitrox Specialty can also count as one adventure dive. This includes additional instruction and you also receive a specialty certification. The discounted cost for adding this specialty to the Advanced is $120 (savings of $10).

Eco Academy
The Sun Divers Eco Academy is our signature education program for divers who want to do more than earn certifications — they want to become confident, capable ambassadors for the ocean. Each level combines world-class dive training with conservation education, creating a learning experience that’s as meaningful as it is memorable.
The Eco Adventurer level is designed for divers who are ready to dive deeper, stay longer, and experience more of the underwater world. Built around the PADI Advanced Open Water course, this level introduces you to new environments and challenges that build confidence, sharpen your decision-making, and expand your capabilities. You’ll explore Roatan’s iconic walls, strengthen your underwater navigation skills, and gain the experience to dive with greater know-how.
You’ll also earn your PADI Enriched Air Nitrox certification, giving you the knowledge to safely increase your no-decompression limits – valuable for Roatan’s deeper sites or hunting lionfish that like to hang out at depth.
But the Eco Adventurer experience goes beyond personal skill development. Through your choice of a PADI Dive Against Debris Specialty or the Roatan Marine Park Lionfish Hunting License, you’ll actively contribute to protecting the reef while adding interesting new objectives to your dives.
As an Eco Adventurer, you’re not just discovering new dive sites – you’re becoming a more capable diver and a more impactful steward of the ocean.
